THE GHARUN DEMON

Basho Genji was recently the target of an assassin from Ispar, the conjured demonic slave of a most evil collusion -- that between a corrupt Sho merchant house with whom Genji's teacher had fallen afoul, and a mystical desert cult of insance dervish. Following are documents and images to capture this event as it transpired. The appearance of this assassin truly marks the beginning of a campaign against Jojii's Sword and its friends.

The demon, having possessed the unfortunate Gharun woman Alka al-Rudraz, enters Mayoi to feed. She had been hiding in the countryside, watching Jojii's Sword and living as a wild animal. She would certainly have chosen to strike soon.

Pew the Mottled (left), old friend of Jojii's Sword, has dispelled the demon and recovered the artifact from which it gained power -- a ring given once by Basho Genji to his Isparian teacher, Murasaki Tanka. Here, Alka al-Rudraz is unconscious after the removal of the demon.

After a short chase, Alka al-Rudraz threw herself from a nearby mountain, thus killing herself.

It is rumored that the Gharun cult captures and corrals unfortunate souls and street urchins for the purpose of possessing them with assassin demons. If true, then Alka may have known what her purpose had been, and may out of honor or shame taken her own life.

Akemi (right) soon joined Pew (middle), and the two traveled to Lin to present the ring to Basho Genji (left). Genji was both elated and distrubed. He had given the ring to Murasaki Tanka many years ago, and the teacher had never removed it. Perhaps, Genji feared, Murasaki Sensei has perished.
